About Our Medical Students
Leonie Hoyo is a third year medical student from Boston University School of Medicine. She was born in Scarborough, England and later moved to Bridgewater, Massachusetts where she has spent most of her life. She attended Suffolk University in Boston where she studied biology and chemistry, and graduated with a B.S. in 2014. After graduation, she worked for two years as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Boston Children's Hospital in the Translational Neuroscience Center, prior to matriculating to medical school in 2016. During Leonie's first year of medical school, she worked with a neonatologist at Boston Medical Center to start the CALM Program (Cuddling Assists in Lowering Maternal & Infant Stress). She hopes to one day practice as a pediatrician, but is looking forward to gaining experience providing care to patients of all ages. Outside of medical school, Leonie enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, and trying new things!
